Heavy : IF

I got the idea for this week "heavy" theme when I saw a photo of an old nepalese woman carrying heavy load around her head. The original version of this illustration was arcrylic + pen on paper.

I love the way you do the eyes on your female illustrations, they are just beautiful. You give them all such a feeling of sweetness, as if you'd really like to get to know them, bravo!

she's beautiful...very well done.

Love it. The purple butterly adds a freshness to the monochromatic color scheme. I also really like the expression on the woman's face, and the way you render women in general.

Hi Mangosteenskin,
I think u should also try to illustrate those old folks living around ranau-kundasang.

Going up and down the hills/mountain with heavy burden on their back, just to make a living..

thank u fannie. glad to see u here again.:)

thank u shani! your comments are always my favourite! i think u are good at putting ur observation into words.

hi nancy, thank u for droping by and taking time for comment. :)

helo kate, nice to meet u here. thank u for ur comment, really appreciate ur attention on the butterfly. it's a last minute additional element.

halooo abgjas! mmg terfikir juga mau lukis itu "molohing2" sana ranau-kundasang tu mula2. but this is juz a quick illustration for my IF submission - sengaja mau lukis yang cute2. My hubby cakap muka orangtua lebih berseni sebab berkedut2. hehe. tp kan...memang mencabar bah mau lukis orangtua ni. rasanya skil saya belum mencukupi.

ini pun boleh jadi sumandak kita juga ini. ohya, saya suka komen abgjas coz sbb tidak terhad kepada "beautiful", "great" atau yg berbentuk pujian semata2. kritikan membina dan suntikan idea sangat dialu2kan. TQ.

I like the looks of her face. :D Here in Brunei also have that kind of "bakul". But they put behind their back here in Brunei they called it Takiding. *teehee* I like it! :D

yes pupu, i think sabah and brunei not much different, in fact very close to same! at the beginning i thought of drawing the takiding, but carrying the load around the head seemed harder than on the back. oh maybe someday i'll illustrate our takiding. hehe. thanks for your comment!

Hehe Rizal suka sangat bila dia nampak bakul rotan tu!

Great illo, mango! Love the mono tone! I must say the details on the rattan basket are great!

mangosteenskin said...

tq emila! perhaps i should dedicate this week IF illo to rizal. hehe.

oh tq for mentioning the basket details. i had to push myself a bit to finish it.

nowadays, i got few request to make animal and man ilustrations on my blog. oh, i told my friend, my fear of drawing animal fur and man, is as same as my fear of drawing the rattan basket.hihi.
